Arrival and Departure
Students may enter the building and proceed to their classrooms when the first bus arrives, which is approximately 7:35 a.m.
Students who do not ride a bus should not arrive at school prior to 7:35 a.m. as we do not provide supervision. Students may not enter the building (unless they are in KIDS Club) until 7:35 a.m. All unsupervised students must leave the building or office by 2:45 p.m. or they will be brought to KIDS Club.
For children who need early/after school supervision, please enroll in KIDS Club.
Parent Pick up Procedures:
Thank you for following all the arrival and dismissal procedures as well as basic traffic rules. I know at times it is hard to wait in line and practice patience but with almost 600 students coming and going we need to make sure their safety is our primary concern. THANKS!
Here a video explaining our arrival and dismissal procedures. Even if you are a veteran of Highlands, please take 3 minutes to update yourself and anyone who may be picking up your child: Car Line Procedure Video for Parents
Late Arrivals or Early Departure
Students who arrive late for any reason (except a late bus or safety patrol duty) must sign in and obtain an admission slip from the school office before going to class.
For excused absences during the day, such as for doctor or dental appointments, students are expected to bring a written note stating the times they are to be excused.
- A parent must pick up and sign out children in the school office.
- Also, if a child is returning to school from an appointment, he or she must sign in at the school office and obtain an admission slip before returning to class.
