School Board selects Dr. John Schultz as next Edina Public Schools leader
March 9, 2017
After considerable deliberation and evaluation of a variety of data points the Edina School Board selected Dr. John Schultz, Hopkins superintendent, to be the next superintendent of Edina Public Schools. At a special meeting on March 9, the Board voted to offer the position to Schultz and move ahead with contract negotiations.
The board made its decision after narrowing the initial slate of six candidates to two finalists last week, Schultz and Mr. Eric Schneider, Minnetonka Public Schools assistant superintendent. Schneider and Schultz each spent a day in the district earlier this week meeting with various constituent groups including students, parents, staff and community members, concluding the day in a formal interview with the board.
Assuming agreement of a contract, Schultz will begin his tenure on July 1, succeeding Ric Dressen, who is retiring June 30.
