Edina Community Education Services works in partnership with Valley View Middle School to offer extended day activities before and after school, on release days and all summer long for students in grades K-5. Edina Community Education makes the connection between school and after school, providing high quality programming that enhances the Edina Public Schools curriculum.
SURGE (Grades 6-9)
Follow the energy and it will lead you to SURGE. SURGE offers middle school students an opportunity to hang with their friends in a cool environment. There is food, music, foosball, table tennis, computers for homework, games in the gym, and staff who serve as peers and role models. Flexible enrollment choices including an hourly drop-in option. NEW! SURGE is located at South View beginning September 2012.
Classes and Camps
Before and after school and release day classes are available at South View during the academic year. Check back in August for class offerings. Summer Shades programming is currently available at the Edina Community Center, check out the Youth Programs catalog for current offerings.
From basic to advanced, Edina Community Education's Aquatics Program offers swimming lessons, diving lessons, individual lessons, and open-swim. Check out the Youth Programs catalog for current offerings.
Drivers Education (Ages 14.5+)
Edina Community Education partners with Safeway Driving School to create safe, responsible teen drivers. Classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons emphasize defensive driving techniques tailored for the inexperienced teen driver while targeting to influence the invincible teen attitude.
Service Letter (Grades 9-12)
Edina Public Schools' students in grades 9-12 can letter in community service. The community service letter is an award earned by students who go above and beyond when it comes to serving others.
