Edina Public School's advisory councils provide input, advice, direction and insight to District leadership. The District uses the advisory council model to help shape District policies, procedures and practices. Advisory positions include membership on various Teaching & Learning, Finance, and Leadership subcommittees, councils, teams, and task forces. Volunteers fill out an application and appointments are made by District Administration and the School Board to ensure a balanced representation of community and staff. Most terms are for one to three years.
The Edina Parent Leadership Council (PLC) serves to promote understanding of district-wide issues that relate to the education and welfare of students in the Edina Public Schools. Membership includes leadership representatives of individual school parent organizations as well as the Edina Family Center, Parent Communication Network, Edina Community Education Services and the Edina Education Fund.
Edina PCN serves the community by providing education and dialogue opportunities for families and educators of children grades K-12.
PCN's Mission Statement:
The Edina Athletic Booster Club is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides services, events and financial support to the Edina High School athletic community. The mission of the Boosters is to enhance the athletic environment for all student athletes and coaches so that they may have a positive, rewarding and fulfilling experience. The Boosters are responsible for Athletic Hall of Fame inductions, team programs, three annual athlete Bean Feeds, Spirit Store sales, game day concessions and the Scholar Athlete Breakfast. Through the sale of memberships and corporate sponsorships the Boosters raise funds that are distributed to projects and individual sports that have been prioritized by the Edina High School Athletic Department. Over the years the Boosters have funded major scoreboard initiatives, web site enhancements, high school trophy cases as well as major equipment purchases.
The Edina High School band program consists of 275 students in grades 10, 11, and 12. There are three high school concert bands: a concert band, a varsity band, and two sections of a symphonic band. All three bands form the Edina “Hornet” Marching Band in the fall. There are two extra-curricular jazz bands, three pep bands, and numerous excellent chamber ensembles.
The Ed Fund secures private, supplemental funding to support valuable education experiences and innovative projects in the Edina Public Schools. Funds raised augment school system revenues that are provided by taxes, state aid, and other parent and student led fundraising efforts.
The Edina Resource Center is your connection to community information, resources and services. The resource center offers "one-stop” shopping for the right piece of information, service provider or community support, as well as follow-up to ensure the right services were provided.
