Earlier this week we implemented new procedures for students attending home football games at Kuhlman Stadium. There has been a great deal of discussion around the practice of disallowing backpacks and beverage containers into the stadium, and I respect that individuals may hold differing perspectives on the issue. However, it is important that we recognize that these procedures are intended not to be punitive, but rather an effort to help ensure the safety of our students and fans, which is why many high schools in the Twin Cities, and around the country, have similar procedures in place.
